Stop, collaborate and listen: sweet link-ups we love
Why people power is the only way to make the real magic happen, from cute jewellery and threads to worldwide change for good
This week's theme is... collaboration 🤝
It’s December already (adios, Black Friday: are we the only ’sletter in your inbox not trying to push you excess stock?) – the month of giving, which has got us thinking about:
community
&
collectivity
&
collaboration…
aka – the ONLY way any true Planet Positive change is gonna happen at all.
So… COP29 last week may have been a bit of a downer (passnotes: developed countries’ $300bn-a-year promise is ‘too little, too late’, Trump upset everyone without even being there – standard – and now there’s talk of ending the annual powwow/party altogether).
But thankfully the sort of working together we’re thinking about doesn’t rely on waiting for the few up top to get on the same page (spoiler… oh, we’re not even going to say it, it’s not something to think about on a Sunday). It’s far more about shifting things from the feet up. And we’re not talking about 1:1 sneaker collabs or label hook-ups for peacocking and press.
Sure, our System right now – that one that all humans live in, no matter which team is representing them at COP – may be designed for competition, but the power of community-crossing collaboration for real change is rising up everywhere. Like wild blue Buddleia threaded through railway lines; pops of joint-effort joy along the me-first, consumer-driven tracks we’re all being endlessly shunted along.
We’re talking about industry-wide get-togethers, like makers everywhere being given a free tool to design their own materials and cut back on overproduction and unnecessary, carbon-unleashing journeys.
Or gangs of neighbours all pitching in for a community sauna on their little bit of Kentish coast.
Or two talented and like-minded designers coming together to make beautiful jewellery and raise cash for people and planet.
And, of course, we’re talking about us – as in, you and us, us. BRiMM is a collective founded for the good of everyone in it, and beyond.
Tune in, team up and let's turn the tide.
Team BRiMM

Free-for-all collaboration was always part of the plan for open-source 3D-knitting platform, Byborre Create. Pioneering an approach to zero-inventory production and traceable supply chain, we think it’s exactly what the industry needs… even if the whole industry isn’t quite up for it yet. Founder Borre Akkersdijk’s shares his one-by-one link-up approach – most recently with Rapha – with Dezeen.
Sometimes collaboration can happen on a smaller, local level, from community energy projects to crowdfunded saunas. Down on Margate’s sandy shore lies this sweet, rather chic Sea Bathing Machine – a Kickstarter-funded project that’s got people sweating then swimming together, all year-round.
Now, here’s an insider network worth dialling into. EARNT redirects be-there-first fiends towards the charity work of purposeful brands – think: picking up litter in nearby canals while on a paddleboard – rewarding them for their good deeds with hotel stays, one-off menus and more.

DAN DAN'S THE MAN MAN
The store-cupboard wonder dish we ate last night, Dan Dan noodles are super quick to make – as well as disappear in our house.
MUSIC FOR CLIMATE OPTIMISTS
Not that it's getting competitive to play selecta for our weekly playlist… but somehow we’re booked up till the end of the year. This week – innovation hustler, vintage repro baseball cap hunter, AI playing card inventor the solid-as-a-rock, effervescent Dan (Dan?) K (💛). Something slamming to slurp your noodles to.
FROM THE COLLECTIVE
Emily shared her Greek green beans recipe – her go-to whenever she wants to feel summer vibes in winter // This week’s DJ Dan got us engrossed – and grossed out by – this Amazon Haul download in The Atlantic // Our beauty guru Sam tipped us off about a new all-natural footcare kit from Birkenstock (*Christmas list-ing immediately*)
We love to hear what our collective is finding. Share your links with Becky
What’s BRiMM again?
We’re building a shop, journal and collective to prove that living within limits isn’t living less – and to put the profit to work for the planet.
